This is too shocking for me to really figure out what to say.
After Lila Rose exposed how a Birmingham, Alabama Planned Parenthood clinic engaged in deliberate flaunting of statutory rape laws, the State followed up with a little visit from Montgomery.
If this report were not so vile and disgusting, it would be funny. The report of the transgressions makes this clinic sound like it is managed by Keystone cops. Finding these people in flagant violation of a handful of obvious state laws / well-known medical care prctices was like shooting fish in a barrel.
You have to read it. It is a bit less than 40 pages, large type, on one column half the width of the whole page, and lots of it bureaucratically repeated — an easy read.
We are urged by our democratic party to swear allegiance to the “right” to abortion? These are our compatriots?
I can’t wait to hear how we liberals defend this behavior. It is Alabama, so we can always cry “racism.” Those poor deep-south blacks!! Pity them! They don’t know what they are doing! They need our help and guidance!! The clinic was just doing what it can, in the face of HATE and Bigotry!!!
Or: maybe “we” can claim that “we” were unfairly targeted!! Yes, like our profiling argument!!
Why are these investigators SINGLING OUT PP? Maybe we can suggest that these charges are all fake!!
OR: Yes, this sonds great! If only we had publically funded abortion, the clinic would have the money to a. return phoen calls when a pt reports adverse effects from an abortion; b. review a log book once a month; c. have annual training on duty to report statutory rape; d. etc.
Yes, those things are so expensive, we cannot expect a simple little clinic to carry out these things, despite the obvious fact that every other medical setting can!
In case you are wondering: it is OK to be a democrat and be opposed to abortion. Opposed, as in NEVER OK. Why? Because it is killing an innocent life. These not-yet -born babies are real people. It takes all kind of linguistic and logical gymnastics to scrap together an argument that these blobs of flesh are a. not alive, and b. something other than human. You can be a democrat and be extreme in your human right views.
You don’t have to side with Margaret Sanger and the other leaders of the American Eugenics Society.
You CAN side with our esteemed compatriot the Reverend Jesse Jackson – from back in the day, when he was pro-life, not pro-choice. Back in the day, Jesse proclaimed, “There are those who argue that the right to privacy is of [a] higher order than the right to life,…that was the premise of slavery. You could not protest the existence or treatment of slaves on the plantation because that was private and therefore outside your right to be concerned.
What happens to the mind of a person, and the moral fabric of a nation, that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience? What kind of a person and hat kind of a society will we have 20 years hence if life can be taken so casually? It is that question, the question of our attitude, our value system, and our mind-set with regard to the nature and worth of life itself that is the central question confronting mankind. Failure to answer that question affirmatively may leave us with a hell right here on earth.”
You CAN side with the late, great Teddy the Lion, who was pro-life, before he turned pro-choice (before he turned pro-life again post-mortem)…
“While the deep concern of a woman bearing an unwanted child merits consideration and sympathy, it is my personal feeling that the legalization of abortion on demand is not in accordance with the value which our civilization places on human life. Wanted or unwanted, I believe that human life, even at its earliest stages, has certain rights which must be recognized – the right to be born, the right to love, the right to grow old. When history looks back at this era it should recognize this generation as one which cared about human beings enough to halt the practice of war, to provide a decent living for every family, and to fulfill its responsibility to its children from the very moment of conception.”
You can ally yourself with pro-life democrats…
Even if these people thought they were doing some great medical work, as they always claim. How can you “keep abortion safe” if you do not monitor and follow up when a woman calls with some dire symptoms following her abortion?
Read the report. It is not difficult. And easy 40 pages of notes. And permit yourself to being open-minded: not about polygamy, not about man-horse relationships, but about abortion.
And, if your mind can handle it, start to allow yourself to wonder: how did this platform issue, which is so inherently contrary to our democratic values, get incorporated so deeply into our platform?
